Message for September 2007
And Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." (Matthew 8:7)
Dear friends of Our Lady of Bandel,
The birthday of Mother Mary is celebrated on the 8th of September each year. In many parts of India and elsewhere, this is also the day in which May is invoked and honored as the Mother of good health. Everyone longs for a healthy, peaceful and happy life. But sickness and suffering is the lot of human beings. The bible gives us assurance that God who created man in his own image and likeness is also a God who heals and liberates. God wants his creatures to enjoy the fullness of life and life in all its abundance. "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn”.., (Isaiah 61:1-2) This prophecy of the Bible was fulfilled in Jesus. The work of healing and liberating was not only during his life time but his apostles and his believers and followers carry on this work of Jesus. In Jeremiah 17:14 we pray “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise. Jeremiah 30:17 further says, “for I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds.' 'Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth (Jeremiah 33:6) Mother Mary cooperated with Jesus in the work of our salvation and redemption. Mankind approaches the Father through His son Jesus, by the loving intercession of Mary the mother of Jesus. She is the mother of good health and wellbeing. If we trust in her power of intercession the promises of the bible will be fulfilled in our lives too. Bandel shrine is a place Mary has specially chosen to dispense her favours and blessings on her suffering children.
We pray for you and place your intentions at the feet of Our Lady of Bandel. We also praise and thank the Lord for His immense blessings and graces showered on you through the loving maternal assistance of Our Blessed Mother.

Love always has an element of sacrifice. To love others as they are, to be patient and considerate, to be forgiving and understanding, even in trying circumstances, demands a degree of sacrifice and asceticism.
