The Bandel Retreat House

Though a later addition to the centuries old church, the Retreat House attached to Bandel Basilica, has nonetheless become a very important feature of the Shrine. To many visitors coming to Bandel for a retreat, often as schoolchildren, this was their first and most powerful experience of the Shrine.

The Retreat House was built in 1968 with the purpose of providing a quiet and prayerful location for Priests, Religious and the Laity. The facilities of the Retreat House have been enhanced in 2000 and is available for booking by groups. The Bandel Retreat House is available for Spiritual Retreats, Animation programs, Seminars, Meetings, Chapters, Study and Research programs, Youth Orientation programs, or similar formative and devotional programmes.

Facilities Available:
(a) Rooms:
44 self-contained rooms (double occupancy) = 44 x 2 = 88 persons
02 self-contained rooms (single occupancy)= 02 x 1 = 02 persons
02 Halls with 4 curtained cells= 02 x 4 = 08 persons
01 dormitory with 46 beds [can be converted to 12 cells]

(b) Auditorium with PA/music system.
(c) A carpeted Chapel with low cane stools for sitting, fitted with PA system.
(d) Dining Hall with PA / music system etc.
(e) Meals served (in-house cooking or outdoor catering) as per requirement.

Expenses per day:
(a) Accommodation:
Rs.75/- for Rooms (single occupancy)
Rs.100/- for Rooms (double occupancy)
Rs.40/- for cells.
Rs.1000/- for the dormitory
(Rs.500/- without bedsheets & bathing towels)

(b) Food: Rs.100/- (In-house cooking)
- Breakfast (bread-butter/jam, cereals, egg, coffee-milk-sugar.)
- Lunch (rice, dal, chicken/fish curry, vegetable curry, fruit.)
- Two tea breaks with light snacks (10.30 a.m. / 4.30 p.m.)
- Supper (rice, dal, vegetable curry, fruit)
